How to Play Fantasy Fights: Your Guide to the Ultimate Boxing Fantasy Game
Fantasy Fights is a fresh, exciting way to engage with boxing. However, getting started might seem tricky if you're new to fantasy sports. Don’t worry, this guide will walk you through the basics of setting up and playing Fantasy Fights.

What is Fantasy Fights?

Fantasy Fights is an interactive platform where users draft teams of real-life boxers, score points based on their performances in the ring, and compete in leagues with friends or fellow boxing fans.
Getting Started

-
Join or Create a League
-
Private Leagues: Many users play in private leagues with friends, family, or coworkers. You’ll get an invite from the league commissioner, and you’re in!
-
Public Leagues: Don’t have a group? Join a public league. You’ll be randomly assigned to a group of other boxing fans.
-
-
Types of Leagues
-
Size: Leagues can vary in size, from 4 to 12 players. Smaller leagues offer greater access to top-tier fighters, while larger leagues present more challenges in drafting and strategy.
-
Scoring Type: The core scoring is based on boxing performances. Points are awarded for wins, knockouts, major titles, and BoxRec ratings.

Drafting Your Team

The draft is where your fantasy team comes to life. Each user selects real-world boxers in a "snake" draft, where picks go 1-10, then reverse (10-1) in the next round. Your objective? Build the most powerful squad of fighters across five weight classes:

-
Heavies: Heavyweight & Cruiserweight
-
Middles: Light Heavyweight, Super Middleweight & Middleweight
-
Welters: Super Welterweight & Welterweight
-
Lights: Super Lightweight, Lightweight & Super Featherweight
-
Smalls: Featherweight & below

Each team consists of 20 fighters, and you’ll need a strategy that balances elite talent and depth.

Scoring System
Boxers earn points based on their real-life fights. Here’s the breakdown:
-
Win: 3 points
-
KO Victory: +1 point
-
Major Titles (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO): 1 point per title
-
BoxRec Star Rating: 1 point per star (1-5 stars)
-
Head2Head Matchup: If two of your fighters face off, double points are awarded!
Try and pick the best boxers in the world. Fighters with higher BoxRec star ratings, championship belts, and regular participation in high-profile fights will score more points. These boxers are also more likely to get into head-to-head (H2H) matchups, where you can earn double points.

Managing Your Team

-
Waiver Wire: Missed out on a top fighter? Check the waiver wire and snag up-and-coming talents or boxers dropped by others. You can trade or pick up a fighter from the waiver wire, but be careful: You will lose all points accumulated by the fighter you're dropping. If more than one user claims the same fighter, priority is given to the team with the worst record.
-
Trades: Need to shake things up? Negotiate trades with other league members to balance your roster.
Season Structure

Fantasy Fights runs in parallel with the boxing calendar. As boxers compete in real-world fights, your fantasy team earns points. The league standings are determined by weekly matchups, with the top-performing teams making it to the fantasy playoffs.
Additional Features:
You'll receive weekly writeups and notifications whenever your fighters are scheduled to fight. This keeps you updated and gives you a chance to adjust your lineup accordingly.
Tips for Success

-
Follow the Rankings: Keep an eye on rankings and match schedules. Focus on boxers involved in high-stakes fights.
-
Stay Active: If your top boxer is injured or has a bad matchup, sub in another fighter from your bench.
-
Plan for the Long Haul: Drafting big-name fighters is tempting, but depth matters. Having a well-rounded squad will keep you competitive through the season.
-
Top Fighters: Some of the top-performing fighters in recent years include Canelo Alvarez, Naoya Inoue, Devin Haney, Katie Taylor, and Oleksandr Usyk. These boxers consistently earn points due to their elite performances in the ring.
